Parksafe Achieves Park Mark Award Again!
Glasgow Airport car parking provider, Parksafe, is delighted to have been awarded the Park Mark Award for safer car parking. Parksafe has been providing its valued customers with safe parking for more than a decade now and is delighted to have been recognised by the local police and British Parking Association as maintaining these high standards.
Blair McKellar, Managing Director, says ‘This is a great award to receive for Parksafe. We are proud to park in excess of 30,000 cars safely each year at this facility and Parksafe continues to have an impeccable record of achieving this. We satisfied a very stringent criteria to be awarded the Park Mark Award which offers our customers yet more peace of mind that this is independently accredited as being the safest environment for them to park their car.’
The Safer Parking Scheme is an initiative of the Associations of Chief Police Officers aimed at reducing crime and the fear of crime in parking facilities. Safer parking status, Park Mark®, is awarded to parking facilities that have met the requirements of a risk assessment carried out by the Police.
These requirements mean the parking operator has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, thereby doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime in their parking facility.
For customers, using a Park Mark® Safer Parking facility means that the area has been vetted by the Police and has measures in place to create a safe environment.

Parksafe is an award winning car park that was added to Airport Park and Ride Ltd’s portfolio in July 2008. It is located conveniently 5 minutes from Glasgow Airport and is easily accessible from the M8.
Parksafe has in excess of 1200 spaces and operates an efficient self-park system, with 24 hour security provisions to ensure that all our customer’s vehicles remain secure for the duration of their stay.
Parksafe aims to provide a high class service to all their customers and has recently installed disabled access to our customer waiting areas and our toilets. We also occupy the closest bus stops to the airport terminals, providing the shortest direct access for all our customers.
Cycling for Charity
Hats – or should that be helmets – off to a brave team of business men who will cycle the length of Scotland in order to raise funds for Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.
Airlink Group MD Blair McKellar and 4 friends will embark upon this awe-inspiring challenge in June this year. They will cover approximately 600 miles over 8 days, commencing in Berwick upon Tweed and finishing in John O’Groats. The route is not direct and follows the National Cycle Network Route 1 which will mean passing through towns such as Galashiels, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Cromarty and Lairg.
The group have selected Yorkhill Children’s Foundation as the charity lucky enough to benefit from their toil for a very significant reason. Stephen’s daughter Abigail was born in 2004 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a serious heart defect which required her to have a heart transplant when she was only three years old. Abigail continues to attend our hospital as an outpatient, and it is for this reason her father and his friends have chosen to take on such a daunting task on our behalf.

Working with Accord Hospice
Airport Park and Ride are delighted to be working with the charity Accord Hospice.
Since 1982 ACCORD Hospice has grown and developed so that today the range of Specialist Palliative Care and support offered both within the hospice and the community is of a very high standard. Listening to the needs of our patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals has ensured that ACCORD Hospice's highly trained and experienced multi-disciplinary team, of staff and volunteers, deliver high quality medical and nursing care.
None of this would have been possible without the ongoing financial support of individuals, local groups and businesses. Their trust in ACCORD Hospice is never taken for granted and is greatly valued.
Whilst the Hospice operates, rightly, within a tight regulatory framework, the management structure at ACCORD ensures our staff concentrate on care, compassion and quality of life, always putting patients first. Inspection reports from the Care Commission tell us that we meet and surpass the required standards and indeed are very positive about our patient centred approach.
We continue to ensure that care is of the highest quality by encouraging our staff to maintain and add to their knowledge and skills. This is achieved by the Hospice generously supporting staff's professional development needs. Internal audits on the quality of care reveal extremely high levels of patient and carer satisfaction across all Hospice services of which we are justly pleased and proud.

New Express Check-in
Airport Park and Ride are delighted to be the first off airport car park at Glasgow to offer their customers an easy and efficient self check-in process. Our ‘Express Check-In’ machine was developed specifically for our customers at Direct Parking and Swift Park and can only be used by those customers who book directly with Airport Park and Ride.
It has a simple user interface and means that you can check-in to our car parks without even having to leave the comfort of your own car. Simply scan your bar code, enter your car registration number or reference number to be allowed entry into our car park. The whole process takes seconds and ensures that our customers receive the fastest and most efficient service at no additional cost.
We hope to extend the self check-in service to Parksafe and Park ‘n’ Fly in the very near future as we are always striving to improve our customers service!
Coming Soon - New Bus Stop at Glasgow Airport
Airport Park and Ride are delighted to now be able to offer all our customers the closest pick-up and drop off at Glasgow Airport. Previously, customers were dropped off on Bute Road which is about 200 yards from the terminal entrance and had no shelter during bad weather.
However, after listening to the needs of our customers we are now the only off airport parking provider at Glasgow Airport who have secured the rights to use the main concourse, Caledonia Way, for dropping off and picking up customers. The bus stop is adjacent to the terminal building and is only 30 yards from International Arrivals. It is also fully sheltered to protect our customers from the Scottish weather.
Wear it Pink day at Airport Park and Ride
On Friday 31st October 2009 Airport Park and Ride were proud to support ‘Wear it Pink Day’ in aid of Breast Cancer UK. A fun-filled day was had by all our customers and employees, as we decked out our car parks in pink to support this fantastic cause. We were delighted to raise the sum of £472 and we would like to thank all those customers who gave generously towards the event.
Employees were dressed in many different articles of pink clothing, from pink furry gloves to a pink wedding veil. Managing Director, Blair McKellar, commented ‘Wear it Pink Day was a fantastic event to be involved in. I think it is a charity that is close to many people’s hearts and we were delighted to raise money in aid of Breast Cancer UK.’
